Here is a cute little Christmas freebie. Its from a vintage greeting card. I miss Carolers, we did that as children, house by house we would go sing Christmas Carols. Ah the good ole days!
Hand Dyed Seam Binding!
You know the economy is in the tank right now so I am always looking for ways to tighten my belt so to speak, but when you have the craft bug you know that can be a challenge! So this weekend I was taking stock of all my craft supplies and wondering "how can I make this myself?" First up is seam binding, now who doesn't love the pretty crinkly strands of brightly colored rayon! I had bought some white seam binding to try and dye it myself instead of buying it already colored. I like the dyed binding better than the straight colors since it adds more contrast and little highlights you don't get with just plain colors. So I got out my dyes and played around with them and this is what I came up with. Aren't they lovely? I especially like the red/ cranberry color, it will look great on my holiday tags this year. So how do you all like them? Have you tried making any dyed seam binding yourself?

Here is my latest freebie for you all to use. Its an image out of a 1919 fashion magazine, scanned at 300 to 600 dpi. This file is large, you need to click on the image and save to your computer. Hope you enjoy it.
My First Graphic 45 Altered Box
Okay so anyone who does scrapbooking or any paper crafting has seen the gorgeous Graphic 45 paper lines right! These paper collections are so stunning I can hardly stand to cut and use them, but I forced myself to do just that to make my first altered art box.
To make the box I used a regular plain brown box you get at Michaels or any craft store, painted it with Gesso, then plain black paint. When the paint was totally dry I then used Tattered Angels Stiletto Glimmer Glam on the paint, I love Glimmer Glam it has such sparkle to it and it drys shinny. I used Graphic 45's Curtain Call 12 by 12 sheets of paper, cut them using Spellbinders scalloped dies and glued them on the box. I hand made the flower and the stick pin myself and added some black tulle to finish that embellishment off. The finishing touch was Tim Holtz film strip and a metal key from K & Company.
So what do you all think of my first Altered Box? I really thought it came out well. Next up I am going to do a Christmas one.

Pink Passion is almost ready!
My newest item I am working on I call it Pink Passion. She's a lovely Vintage Postcard of an Egyptian Queen. I really love this postcard and wanted to do something pretty with it and thought I would decorate a 8 1/2 by 11 canvas. I just took forever to finish this one because I didn't know exactly how I wanted it to look, does that ever happen to you? I let it sit there on my desk for about 4 months moving things around and trying different trims and embellishments until I finally decided I had to try and finish it up and start on something new lol!.

Bonjour art piece
I finally finished two art pieces this weekend. This first one was done on chipboard with some scrapbook paper I've had for years. The flowers are Recollection by Michaels, the photo is out of my Etsy shop. I like the way this came out, I've noticed I use a lot of vintage colors in my art so pink was a nice change for me.
